VMs that are encrypted via CBC (such as those with TPMs like Windows 11) will be prompted to upgrade to the new encryption cipher at boot. ![]() The 2023 Tech Preview brings security fixes, and introduces an improved encryption scheme (XTS instead of CBC) for maximum protection with a reduced performance overhead. Security continues to be at the heart of VMware Fusion. Run setup.exe and you’re done Enhancing Security and Control These and other silent features like time sync work together to make your Windows 11 for Arm VMs feel more at home on the Mac than ever. We’ve managed to put together what seems like an impossibly fast drag-and-drop and clipboard sharing between the Mac and Windows 11.Īutofit instantly resizes the guest resolution when you drag the console window. This Tech Preview now delivers support for the vast majority of VMware Tools features available for Windows VMs on Fusion for Intel Macs. Other more noteworthy bits of the Fusion 2023 Tech Preview include the dramatic improvements in support for the Arm version of Windows 11 on Macs with Apple silicon. And yes, that includes running emulated 32-bit and 64-bit games! Note that OpenGL is not yet supported, despite the language in the UI VMware Tools on Apple silicon Now, not only can you take full advantage of your Mac’s computing power for productivity tasks, but you can also immerse yourself in a breathtaking gaming or multimedia experience. The UI is much more responsive, and when combined with autofit, resolution changes are nearly instant. This upgrade brings a new level of graphics performance to Fusion, empowering users to run full DirectX 11 3D games and apps with stunning fidelity and speed. We are particularly excited to introduce full 3D hardware accelerated graphics for Windows 11 on Arm with Fusion on Macs with Apple silicon. With this release, we are dramatically improving our experience with Windows 11 on Fusion on Macs with Apple silicon and the new macOS Sonoma, while also unveiling subtle new functionality for working with encrypted virtual machines programmatically, as well as security enhancements.Īnd we want your feedback! Full 3D Acceleration on Windows 11 for Arm We are thrilled to announce the release of VMware Fusion Tech Preview 2023, marking a significant leap forward for our virtualization software on macOS. I'm pretty sure this is Fusion's fault since it wasn't happening before the Tools installation.Powering Up Your Macs with Apple Silicon A screenshot of VMware Fusion Tech Preview 2023 on macOS Sonoma Beta 3, running the Arm version of Windows 11 to run the 3DMark Firestrike Ultra 4K DirectX 11 benchmark via 64bit x86 emulation, hardware-accelerated by Metal on the Mac… ( Try saying that 3 times fast!) I've dug through Windows extensively with no improvement. I have learned how to navigate blindly into the Windows display settings and pick an off resolution, then Revert, to make it display at a READABLE resolution, but it won't stay that way no matter what I try. The New Horrible Problem is that every time I click or move out of the Windows screen to the Mac side, Windows screen resolution immediately jumps to maximum resolution, which is makes everything microscopic and UNREADABLE. Anyways, finally got Tools running, as proven by now being able to use Shared folders like I'm used to, and being able to copy/paste between Win and Mac sides, which weren't working before Tools install. ![]() I think it took 5 restarts before Tools was happy? And that's only after I figured out the weird installation procedure, and copied the installer files out of the virtual CD so the installer didn't crash after asking for a restart. Related side rant: VMWare Tools installation is really clunky. New machine is MacBook Pro running 10.14. Having a rough time moving to Fusion 11.5.1 on a new machine from using Fusion 7, which was pretty dang smooth compared to THESE hiccups.
